Shawn Satterfield, the founder and director of the Shine Music Festival is ready to give fans another reason to be joyous.
Most of those who attend this are those who are physically impaired. Many of them have written grateful thank-you letters to Shawn.
“Thank you for giving me the gift of a music festival that I was able to navigate on my terms and my timing, and it was the first time in my life I’ve been able to do something like this without the need of a sighted person.”
The Shine Music Festival is in its third year. Many challenges have been overcome, especially some during the COVID-19 period.
The festival is one that goes above and beyond ADA requirements. It has been active for three years.
However, the organizer is send a new message – this festival is for everyone.
“We are a music festival that removes barriers to allow everyone the opportunity to experience the day on their own terms. If they want to sit in an area that is open and off to the side, we have sensory areas. We have neurodiverse areas, we have neurodiverse backpacks. We do all those things, but it’s just a music festival.”
The event will engage the disabled with live music in an immersive way, and as usual, go above and beyond ADA requirements that tends to separate people.
